Boasting a collection of luxury stays and urban retreat-style boutique hotels, Valencia Hotel Collection offers a truly authentic experience to its guests. As an art director, I get to spotlight these exceptional offerings through the company’s annual publication, Valencia Magazine. What I love most about designing Valencia’s annual magazine is the opportunity to lean into each hotel’s thoughtfully curated, eclectic persona. Everything from the custom-designed interiors to the on-site restaurants is designed to reflect Texas’ local culture — and that’s something I always weave into the magazine’s visual language.
Creating a magazine for design-forward boutique properties like Valencia’s meant thinking beyond the traditional story format. For a dynamic and engaging reader experience, I came up with out-of-the-box, attractive design elements that offered up new, playful ways of presenting bite-sized information by way of callouts, side bars, and clever compositions.
